In Under the Willow we find a band where socially conscious lyrics are blended with intricate compositions to evoke a brand of songwriting that borrows from bluegrass and folk music but is wholly unique. Erin Donovan’s vocals and ravenous fiddle playing is supported by a superb cast of multi-instrumentalist. Hayley Skreens, Patrick Donovan and Joe Lego trade their tools amongst each other, each equally proficient on guitar, mandolin or banjo.
Fil Pate (SOLO/JAM/IMPROVISATION/BLUEGRASS)
Fil Pate’s solo project is jam packed with creativity. He harnesses the sounds within him to present a unique musical experience. Choosing from a wide variety of genres and styles, Fil mixes his original music with traditional jazz and bluegrass, Americana and world music for an instrumental performance like no other. He uses an acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass and the various percussions those instruments possess to create soundscapes with the loop station. There is absolutely no pre-recorded material used to aid him, and every sound comes from his fingers and off the stage. Allow yourself to listen and discover how it all comes together.
