Born from the roots of Tampa Bay’s vibrant jam scene, Morning Dew is a fresh collaboration between seasoned players who have long carried the torch for the music of the Grateful Dead and beyond.

Alan Gilman, a cornerstone of Florida’s jam community, was a founding member of Uncle John’s Band, one of Tampa Bay’s most cherished Dead tributes since 1996. After nearly three decades with UJB, Alan stepped away in 2024 to pursue a new musical path, one that would allow for deeper creative exploration and improvisation.

He soon reconnected with Christian Walker, bassist and founder of Dead Set Florida—a group that’s gained nearly 10,000 fans across the region since its launch in 2017. Their long-standing connection and mutual love for the music sparked the formation of Morning Dew.

With a deep respect for the source material and a fearless approach to improvisation, Morning Dewdelivers an experience that feels both timeless and new. Their five-part vocal harmonies set them apart from other tribute acts, creating lush, soulful textures that elevate every performance. Add to that their extensive, free-flowing jams, and what you get is more than a tribute—it’s a living, breathing celebration of the Grateful Dead’s musical legacy.

On keyboards, John Richardson brings rich tone and melodic flair, while a rotating cast of skilled players—including John Sabal  and Mike Garrie—fill out the rhythm guitar and drum sections with passion and precision.

At every show, Alan performs with authentic Jerry Garcia guitars and amps, bringing fans as close as possible to the true sonic essence of the Dead. The result is a deeply immersive and genuinely moving musical experience.
