DieDra Ruff & the Ruff Pro Band (BLUES) DieDra was born and raised in Norfolk, Va. Her father was a minister who taught and played the piano. DieDra was placed as the lead singer in her family’s singing group, that was organized by her father. She began here career in 1998, when she received her first record deal from Boogiedown Productions, in New York. She was with the company for 10 years. In 2007, she signed with Ruff Pro Records, which is her now husband, Keith Ruff and lead guitar player for Bobby Rush. She released he first Cd in 2008 called ‘Overcoming Hurdles’. The single ‘Hip Swing’in Blues’ created a national line dance. DieDra now has 14 Blues Award Nominations, with one win. She was a 2014 International Blues Challenge Finalist. Out of 235 other bands, DieDra ranked in the top nine. She completed her first European tour in 2014. She has the vocal patterns of Aretha Franklin. She has the powerhouse pipes like Patti Labelle, and a smooth approach to slow blues like Etta James. This barely five foot power house, is living up to the name given to her by the Blues Industry…. ‘The Blues Diva’.
