Dennis TORPEDO Toerpe Retirement Birthday Fundraiser – 1p to 5p $15 min suggested donation
December 10, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$151pm $15 minimum suggested donation at the door
DENNIS “TORPEDO” TOERPE has been fighting an aggressive, rapidly progressing cancer. Conventional treatments have had little effect, and although he is in the care of in-home Hospice., he & his wife Julie have not given up hope. They have spent thousands of dollars on outside-the-box, alternative treatments that are not covered by Medicare or insurance. They have exhausted their resources. And that’s where YOU come in.
Dennis’s musical family is pulling together to help pay for another round of treatments as well as ongoing living expenses. Proceeds will go directly to Dennis and Julie. Along with the suggested minimum donation at the door, donations will be gladly accepted at the stage. We will arrange alternate methods of donating for those who cannot attend. PLEASE support Dennis and Julie by attending and/or contributing to this event.
Dennis has a long and storied history in the Tampa Bay music community. His musical instrument of choice is the mighty Hammond B-3 organ. That organ will be onstage at Skipper’s for this event. Dennis plans to play with at least three of his former/current bands… the Lint Rollers, JGLB (the Johnny G Lyon Band) and the Trunk Band.
There will be a number of guest performers, and we will attempt to list them here as we receive verifications. The Embry Brothers Band, Shawn Brown, Sarasota Slim, Rhonda Ananda are all verified (all performances are donated).
But this event isn’t about the performers or the performances… it’s about much needed financial support for Dennis and Julie.
Coincidentally, Dennis’s 68th birthday is two days before this event. If we are going to have a celebration of Dennis’s life, let’s celebrate it with him. Let’s make this a party to remember. (And please understand that this is a fluid situation- if Dennis is unable to perform, the show will go on. No matter what, Julie and the rest of Dennis’s family still need your support).
Dennis and Julie want to express their gratitude to Tom and Cricket (Skipper’s Smokehouse) for providing the venue, Rhonda Ananda for MC and stage management, the Shawn Brown Foundation and all performers for donating their time.
