The Applebutter Express w/ Troy Youngblood and the Soulfish, American Song Box – $10/13
April 22, 2016 @ 8:00 pm
$10 – $138pm – $10/13
The Applebutter Express (UKULELE FUNK)
The band’s story begins in 2004, when Kyle Biss met his future wife Shannon while working at a record store in Bradenton, Florida. Still a focused bass player, Kyle picked up a ukulele in 2010 and began to write songs, with the idea of singing with Shannon (his then girlfriend) for fun on the couch. Pretty soon the duo began making a name for themselves among the open mic community; in no time, the eclectic, tuneful duo – now known as The Applebutter Express – were the talk of Tampa, Florida. Kyle and Shannon married in 2011, and in 2012 added Joe Trivette on the fiddle. Newest member, Zach Rogers (bass) joined in 2015.
Since then, The Applebutter Express has performed at such prestigious festivals as Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Hulaween, Suwannee Springfest, and many others.
Troy Youngblood and the Soulfish (SOUL/BLUES)
Troy Youngblood and The SoulFish is a six or seven-piece band that plays a unique kind of soul blues. They used to be gypsies living in the Florida wilderness. But in 2015, they surfaced in the Tampa Bay area, bringing their brand of blues and soul with them. They recently placed third in the Suncoast Blues Challenge, and their songs have been featured on WMNF 88.5 Tampa. Also on their resume are festivals like the Orange Blossom Jamboree, Peace Love and Blueberries, Myakka River Jam, Zen Fest, Aurora Sol Fest, and Luna Walkabout Fest.
American Song Box (ROCK/ACOUSTIC/INDIE)
Todd Murphy is from Scranton, PA, but has lived in Florida since 1997. He and RJ Kerker met in Tampa performing at open mics before uniting their talents together. Along with Chris Evans, the three have created a unique and creative ensemble known now as American Song Box. With friends and family joining in on stage at their live shows, it’s always a great mix of music, talent and personalities.
