Hippies please use side door… UJB has been faithfully bringing the music and spirit of the Grateful Dead to Skipper’s every Thursday at Skipper’s since 1998.
Uncle John’s Band was formed in Clearwater, Florida in 1989 from a combination of talented musicians who love to play the music of the Grateful Dead. They recreate the atmosphere and musical adventure of a live Dead show. Uncle John’s Band has performed hundreds of shows full of musical energy and pleasure for all those who have attended around Florida, Georgia and Illinois.
In 2015, UJB returned to Illinois when they were invited to perform at the Chicago Field Museum in conjunction with The Grateful Dead’s “Fare Thee Well” 3-concert run at Soldier Field. Later that summer, they won Creative Loafing’s 25th Annual “Best Of The Bay” award for Best Local Jam Band.
Since 1998, they have performed over 900 Thursday nights at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa affectionately called by fans ‘Thursday Night Church’.
