WMNF’s 4th Annual Tom Petty Birthday Tribute – 6pm $20/25 (tickets available on WMNF website only)

Tom Petty was born and raised in Florida, so it’s only fitting that Florida’s best community radio station will be the only one in the state celebrating his birthday with a full night of Tom Petty’s music! Like the Gainesville legend, WMNF 88.5FM got it’s start in the late 70’s. Both Petty and WMNF rejected the bland sounds of classic rock radio at the end of the 70’s, and instead, moved towards a blend of Byrd-like Folk, Punk, New Wave, Garage Rock, and Dylan-esque singer/songwriters for a unique sound like never before.

WMNF is celebrating with local bands performing his best songs from 26 albums, including Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Traveling Wilburys, Tom Petty solo, and Mudcrutch.
