Halcyon w/ Diane Ward and Jack Shawde – $12
February 18 @ 8:00 pm| $12
8pm – $12
Deb Hunseder and Steph Callahan met in 1989 and had their first gig two weeks later. The harmonies were magic. From the first note, they knew they had something that could not be matched. Since 1989 the duo has opened for national acts including John Mayer, Pat Benatar, India.Irie, Joan Osborne, Tabithas Secret (now Matchbox 20), Sister Hazel, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Joan Bias, Cheryl Wheeler, Wynona Judd, Patrice Pike, Sarah Bettens, Melissa Ferrick, and Koko Taylor. They’ve also performed their stirring accapella rendition of the national anthem for the Atlanta Braves, Tampa Rays and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Diane Ward (SINGER/SONGWRITER)
There’s something to be said for beauty in this world. And something to be said about it.
One thing beauty suggests is eternality. Cute-pretty, glamour-allure and suchlike can sink to trite and tiresome quick. Bubblegummy pop-hop electro hits of the minute offer a sugary rush, but in this age of instant disposability there’s still a hunger for songs of substance and the artists who create and deliver them time after time, year after year. If you can get both push-button oh-yeah’s and lasting joy you’re damn lucky. And probably already a fan of Diane Ward.
The venerable South Florida femme-vocale has been a soldier in the war against throwaway ditty-fluff since she was a teen-ager. And all along dualities have been at the core of any plaintext attempt to delineate and describe her specialness.
Jack Shawde (GUITARIST/PRODUCER/MULTI-INSTRUMENTAL)
Jack Shawde is one of the Southeast’s most in-demand performing and recording musicians, and producer. In addition to being a craftsman of the electric guitar, nylon string and steel string acoustic guitar, Jack also plays the mandolin, resonator ‘Dobro’ style guitar, lap steel, dulcimer and banjo.
Throughout his career, Jack has performed, recorded or toured with such legends as Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Paul Butterfield, Richie Havens, Stan Lynch (Tom Petty), Al Cooper (Blood Sweat & Tears), Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry. Jack has performed and recorded all over the world, including accompanying Enrique Iglesias at the Latin Grammy Awards, which were televised live to a world-wide audience of 10 million.
